Grape and Cable Punch Sets, Northwood

Northwood made three sizes of punch sets or rather punch bowls and bases. All sizes of punch bowls come with a separate base, so they are counted as two pieces when listed as a set. Shown above at the left is the massive banquet or master size (14-16 inches tall, 16-17 inches wide). Originally, this size was sold with 12 cups. Master punch sets have never been seen in a stippled verison. The mid-size shown above on the right is (13 inches tall, 14-15 inches wide) and is seen much less often. Although some price guides list a stippled mid-size punch bowl, no photos of it exists. It may have been that when listed, some of the punch cups with the bowl were stippled but the bowl itself was not stippled.

Above are two small or table size punch sets, originally sold with 6 cups (about 11 inches tall, 12-13 inches wide). There are two versions of small or table size punch sets so two different molds were used. On the left is the more widely found version where the grapes hang directly off the cable. On the right is the lesser seen "variant" where the grapes hang below a grape leaf that hangs on the cable. The base of the variant also has less detail than the version on the left.

Above are two stippled small or table size sets (on the left is a green set and on the right is a blue set). Stippled table size punch sets are found in blue, green and marigold on occasion. Amehtyst stippled versions are quite rare and a stippled base in smoke is known.

	To the left is a photo of a most unusual punch bowl and base sent in by Larry Ashley. It appears to be a small marigold punch top and base, but with the top cupped in like a rosebowl. The punch bowl top is the variant small size in that the grapes hang below a grape leaf and not on the cable.
